Sam Bankman-Fried net worth collapsed from an estimated $26 billion peak in 2022 to effectively zero following the catastrophic implosion of his cryptocurrency exchange FTX in November 2022. Known as SBF, he founded quantitative trading firm Alameda Research in 2017 before co-founding FTX in 2019, which rapidly became the world's third-largest crypto exchange. In November 2023, he was convicted on seven counts of fraud and conspiracy in what became one of the largest financial crimes in U.S. history. In March 2024, he was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.
